Once again Harry, I must ask too much of you
Today may have partially banished my hatred of flying. JetBlue is SO GREAT. JFK, also a great airport! So much food, free wi-fi, and a Borders!

ANYWAY. HBP review in bullet points!

I went into this movie with the perfect amount of knowledge I think. I'd seen all the trailers, so I was excited, but I avoided almost all the pictures and clips so it was all new to me. I also already knew about the scenes that had been cut and added, so I wasn't distracted by disappointments.

Overall by far the best of the HP movies! The whole time I sat there I felt incredibly satisfied. I've always been by the attitude that I mostly don't care what you cut and change, as long as you stay true to the spirit of the books and characters. I truly felt like this movie did a fabulous job of giving us the spirit of HBP. It's difficult for me to like a Harry Potter movie, but I definitely loved this one.

- The acting among the trio has improved by leaps and bounds. The chemistry between them as friends was perfect, especially the friendship between Harry and Hermione. Rupert is a great comic actor.
- Other notable performances: The kid who played teen Riddle, so creepy yet charming! Tom was also great as Draco I thought. The sobbing was a bit absurd, but he did a fantastic job portraying a troubled kid that was given a task far too great than what he's capable of.
- The balance between humor/darkness/and kids just being kids was perfect.
- THE ART DIRECTION. They've finally perfected the look of Harry's world, EVERYTHING IS SO PRETTY. The browns and greys with the splashes of color, drool.
- The humor was genuinely funny and true to the characters! I didn't think it was possible to have an HP movie without jokes that make you want to smash your head.
- I know that HBP is a really shippy book, but the romance was a bit over the top I think. I liked the evolution of the H/G relationship, but was weirded out by the kiss and shoelace porn. Awwwwkward.
- THE INFERI. SO SCARY (even though they looked like Gollum). HOW WAS THIS MOVIE RATED PG?
- When Dumbledore died I was like "Oh, okay, see. I'm not even going to cry!" Then when everyone raised their wands I lost it.
- Can we just re-make all the HP movies and make them like this one?

Can't wait to see it again this weekend and decide if I only adored this movie because of the shiny newness or if I really adored this movie.

I really liked it. I do my best to not compare to the books myself, but I think the one scene I was looking forward to was the House of Guant. If they replaced that with the unneeded burning of the Weasley's Burrow, it would have been the best yet. Also, I think they could have put in more murder and mayhem since... it was a very dark book. Alhough like I said, this might end up being up there with Prisoner of Askrahban as my favorite since the cinematography was aces.

Good review!

Definitely! Prisoner of Azkaban was an awful adaptation, but the cinematography added something special. Half-Blood Prince was aces because it took what was great about Prisoner and was also a great adaptation.

Maybe they'll do something with the Guants in the next two movies?

LMAO @ inferi like Gollum; I thought the EXACT same thing :P It freaked me out when one grabbed Harry, even though I KNEW something was going to come out D:

I couldn't believe how much the trio's acting had improved. I was really happy with it :)

I didn't mind Tom's sobbing - Draco DID cry in the book, and I believed Tom when he did it... *shrug*

THE ART DIRECTION. They've finally perfected the look of Harry's world, EVERYTHING IS SO PRETTY.
OHMYGOD I KNOW! It was prettier than the last movie! The last movie was a lot more blue... :/

I need to drag my parents to see this ... :D

I adored this movie so much. I've seen it twice, and both times it was BRILLIANT.

My theory about why it was the best one? Because all the books are out. The writers knew what would be necessary for seven to make sense, and so the things they left in/took out/added made a brilliant setup for the seventh movie(s).

I'm ready to see it a third time!

I absolutely agree. It made the film way more compact and concise. I wish they could have had the same guidance for the other films. It does make me optimistic about the next two films!

We pretty much have the same brain, not that that's a surprise at all. I forgot to mention the bit about the colors. I love being a sucker for aesthetics.

Have fun in Boston! (Also, totally jealous you snagged tickets on JetBlue - they're the best.)

IA with everything you said. And, yeah, the romance was a bit much. Books always have more time for everything, so I didn't mind the romance in the book, but in the movie, as well done as it was, I really wished we'd had more of the actual plot.

I was really close to crying during the wand raising scene. It was something about Evanna Lynch's face during that scene. :(

YES, absolutely! That's exactly what made me cry!

I don't think it was the presence of romance that bothered me as the way they hit you over the head with R/Hr and the supreme awkwardness of some of the H/G scenes.

Nope, it's Ron and Hermione that don't have their first kiss until the 7th book.
